A 14-year-old boy was found dead just days after being falsely accused of taking the cremated remains of a dead baby during a break-in, a coroner's inquiry has heard.

Heartbreaking Discovery

The young boy's mother and father discovered his body in his room at his Connah's Quay home on November 19th, 2021.

Untrue Accusations Begin

The inquest heard how his mother got a message on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a woman inquiring if her son was her child. The message added: "Tell him appreciation for burgling my flat."

In a testimony presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, asserting her infant's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a allegation which was false.

Police Investigation

An investigation report from authorities later concluded the alleged break-in complainant had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that the items was never taken in the beginning".

Media reports about the alleged taken remains generated social media responses, and although Kai was not named in the messages, his parent said people "understood it was him".

The "social media content were really upsetting", she said.

Emotional Health Effect

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views really were important to him.

"This must have hurt him deeply," she said, "particularly when this was untrue".

Kai was arrested at his residence, but no evidence was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later released under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the inquest heard, but had failed to reached out to the relatives by the moment of his death.

Withdrawal and Worry

His mother said her son "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could seem like days".

When she spoke to him about the supposed incident, she said her child told her he had gone into the house because the woman who resided there had said he could use the bathroom anytime he needed, but refuted taking anything.

Online Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being bullied digitally after the allegations.

The proceedings learned that a 19-year-old encouraged the teenager to end his life.

She had no concerns on the evening before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".

She described him as a "caring, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is completely devastated".

He had been "obviously hiding his worries", she said, adding that he could not bear to have anyone "think bad of him".

Educational Response

The hearing received testimony from educational staff at Connah's Quay High School.

On 8 November, she "heard some boys talking that Kai had been detained and that was the first I learned".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the conversation, the educator said she rang Kai's family telephone and left a voicemail saying she had communicated to the student about the allegations.

The court heard his family said they did not got that communication.

Official Conclusion

Senior coroner told the inquest he would wait for reports regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with individuals with ADHD, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of future fatalities report.

Providing a narrative conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported accusations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.

"Probably falsehoods were afterwards exaggerated and amplified through the platform of online networks.

"On 11 November, he was interviewed by the police and following his questioning he was released whilst investigations continued."

The coroner determined: "Exists no evidence that the actions or omissions of any agency caused or added to his passing and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted act it is impossible to discern his intent."
